About Two New Hands.
It all begins with an idea.
Maggie (founder of Two New Hands) grew up in a large family and being one of the youngest of 7 children she observed how her parents, but especially how her mother navigated life. Her mother needed extra people to help out often and she had no trouble asking family or friends to pitch in. Maggie remembers how much smoother days felt when they had extra hands around and that feeling stuck with her. She knows we aren’t meant to do this alone - no matter how many children you have. After living life, earning her masters degree, getting married, becoming a birth and postpartum doula, starting a business and traveling a bunch, she cooked up this Two New Hands idea!
In supporting hundreds of families in her work as a birth and postpartum doula, Maggie kept hearing the same need over and over. As families evolve, extra support is always needed not just in the beginning, but for years to come. Connecting service-oriented people with your family to help ease some of the day to day events is the primary goal! The more support we have is the more we have to offer others in our lives.
About the Founder
Maggie Rosenfeld (She, Her, Hers)
Maggie has been of service as a birth and postpartum Doula to birthing people, families and babies since 2015. Maggie quickly learned about what the birth world or community was actively trying to change regarding birth outcomes, how people view birth and how families remember the postpartum period. She joined the movement and loves the work she does every day – even with the wild hours.
Before becoming a Doula, Maggie received her Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling and served people who survived natural disasters, young adults living with mental illness and the elderly. She later went on to bring her counseling knowledge to the corporate sector. In the capacity of an organizational psychologist she helped in the creation of workshops, personality inventories and developing new lines of business that promoted soft skills.
Maggie lives in Westchester, New York, but tries often to travel back to her first home in Rochester, New York to visit her large immediate family. She grew up in a family of 7 children and now has 9 nieces and nephews. Maggie also loved the arts from a young age and studied at a performing arts high school where she was heavily involved in theater. Like many people, her experiences from childhood and youthhood shaped her passions. She grew up in a home where her parents opened their doors to the community.
Maggie was very excited to create Two New Hands in 2019 and is so happy to continue to bring support to families at all stages of life. Regardless of the “type” of work she is involved in she is invested in connecting with others, learning from others and if a shared reality exists – creating with others.
